For those traveling internationally, we recommend flying to Oslo Lufthaven (OSL). While taxis and Uber are available, the best way to travel from Oslo Airport Station (Oslo Lufthavn Gardermoen Stasjon) to Oslo City Centre (Oslo Sentralstasjon, abbreviated Oslo S) is by taking the Flytoget Airport Express Train which departs every 10 or 20 mins with a travel time of about 20 mins. Follow the signs for “Express Train” and “Trains” and the airport train station is located towards the far end of the terminal on the arrivals level.
Tickets cost approximately 210 NOK (£17 / US$23) per adult.
Once onboard the train there are luggage racks by the doors in each carriage as well as above the seats. There are also power sockets available at each seat along with free wifi, toilets, and vending machines throughout the train. Make sure to keep your ticket handy as it will be checked by an inspector once the train is underway. The journey takes 20 minutes. The train will make one short stop at Lillestrøm on the outskirts of the city before continuing to Oslo S.
Once you have arrived at Oslo S, it is a short 5-minute indoor walk through the train station with the Amerikalinjen located just outside the train station. Viola!
